After what was possibly the easiest move in our lives, we have landed at the apartment that will be our home for the next 11 months. The move involved packing our various suitcases and backpacks and then walking this route. The most labour intensive part of it all was schlepping our suitcases down the five flights of stairs at the previous place and up the two flights here. Elevators are not the norm here but they are being retrofitted where possible. It felt great to unpack the suitcases we have been lving out of since loving out of our old place at the end of February.
Without further ado, here are some photos of our new place.
The street and the front door of the building.
This is it!
Looking back towards the door.
The kitchen (with a both a dishwasher and a washing machine) and the office.
Stairs to/from the roof top terrace
We don’t have much of a patio but we do have a lovely roof top terrace.
We were sort of hoping to rent a two bedroom but it didn’t quite work out that way. Instead we ended up in this fantastic studio simply because it is too great for us to have passed it up…. see the note above about the dishwasher AND washing machine. It’s also almost 1.5 times larger than some 2 bedrooms that we saw. Since we’ll be spending a lot of time here with me studying and Jamu working from home, having a better living space won out over having two rooms. The only complaint is that being an internal apartment it’s not too bright. We think this bodes well for the heat factor come August when it is common to reach high 30s here.
The only things left to do here are buy a kettle and a spare bed for guests!
